ALL ABOUT THE ONEWHEEL VIRTUAL TRICK COMP
Do you believe you have what it takes to compete with Onewheelers all over the world, but can't travel to one of the many Onewheel Events happening throughout the year? Do you want to show off your skills and possibly win prizes? Then the virtual_trick_comp on Instagram could be your path to Onewheel stardom.
WHAT IS THE VIRTUAL TRICK COMP AND HOW DID IT START?
The original intent of these challenges was to provide motivation to actively participate and practice board skills during a time of the year when weather can be a roadblock for Onewheel Stoke. The host chooses the trick and explains how to do it, then people submit their tricks. Once the submission time passes, users vote on their favorite.
The idea was born when Keith Prim (@electrohobo) mentioned it in one of the PNW homie group chats. Scotty (@onewheelscotty) and Luis (@_turbulent_flow) thought it was a fantastic idea so they worked together to make it happen.
They've secured sponsorships from ElectricBigfoot, The Float Life, WheelDead, MOB Shop, Electric Stoke, Senders Sunglasses, Youform Pads, Bobs Stoke Shop, Armor-Dilloz, Fluid Theory, Hella Hyphy, and Float Addicts so far.
It's been a really community driven project. Scotty has been actively applying feedback from participants and hosts into the fabric of the competition's format. The "no old clips" rule came from this feedback. It allows people to work within a set time frame to participate.
Other top contributors to the project include Filip Bartek, Jake from Stoke Farm, VESC Mann, Jack Slide Bee, and Sam Varner. The list goes on and on. Scotty and Luis are forming an "inner council" for the project to keep it running in the way that it has.
Virtual Trick Comp is floating awesome.
