What are Float Plates?
- Protect your investment. The stock plastic battery and controller compartments are weak and prone to breakage. Float Plates are engineered for over 3,000 PSI of impact!
- Expand your bag of tricks. No need to wax that curb, as the Float Plates are self-lubricating. Slides, stalls, and drops all damn day!
- These float plates have sizes to fit the XR model.
- Reduces friction on nosedives. Also great for nose and tail slides. Let's see what you can do!
- Includes a built-in handle for a familiar and easy carry.

Sturdy and fits well
I got a OneWheel Pint and wanted to go with a pink theme to hearken back to Marty McFly's hoverboard in "Back to the Future Part II". I ordered a Bodacious Pink Solo Float Plate, but the one I received was Black. I sent an email asking how to trade it in for the pink one, and by the next morning Jeff had already sent the pink version using 2-day shipping. So not only did I get the pink one in the end, but now I have a spare black one. I really appreciate the fast customer service, and the surprise and delight of allowing me to keep the black one.
I haven't actually been able to put the plate through its paces yet because I'm still recovering from my first nose dive on my XR a couple weeks ago. But it seems even more solid than the XR float plates since it's one piece and attaches with screws and adhesives. And the addition of the handle on the nose is nice. I prefer the Maghandle Pro for carrying the board more than a really short distance, but I did miss the nose handle when picking the board up from the guitar stand I keep it on.
I also didn't read the description closely enough. I wanted the color scheme on the sides of the board to match the bumpers, and it looked like the Pink Sidekicks are a different shade than Future Motion's Coral color, so I got Future Motion's rail guards. But the Future Motion guards have a lip that goes under the board, which the Solo Float Plate wasn't designed around. You can still screw it in, but since the lips cause there to be space between the plate and the board, I don't think the adhesive would work very well. This one is on me, though, because if I'd just read the description more carefully I could have easily cut off those lips on FM's rail guards before I installed them. I'm still figuring out if I can manage to cut them off despite having already installed them, or if I'm going to have to order a new pair. I wish The Float Life made Sidekicks that match the stock colors so I could just get a pair of those instead of FM's rail guards, but it also wouldn't surprise me if FM would try to get litigious over something dumb like that.
Fast deliver and accurate order as always. Fits like a glove, excellent product. Love doing business with The Float Life.
